Extended Essays

The Extended Essays area is designed to support the three most important stages of the IB Economics EE process: choosing a strong research question, improving the essay draft itself, and strengthening the Reflection on Planning and Progress Form.

In the research-question workflow, students can test whether a question is focused, feasible, genuinely economic, and likely to support a strong essay. This is especially valuable because choosing the right question is often the hardest part of the whole Extended Essay process.

In the draft-analysis workflow, students can upload a full Extended Essay draft and receive structured, criterion-by-criterion feedback aligned with the new IB Economics Extended Essay syllabus for first assessment in 2027. The system highlights strengths, weaknesses, and priorities for improvement, and it produces predicted marks for Criteria A to D so that students can see more clearly where their essay currently stands.

In the reflection-analysis workflow, students can also receive targeted feedback on the quality of their Reflection on Planning and Progress Form. This helps them improve not only the essay itself but also the clarity, depth, and usefulness of their reflections throughout the EE process.

The aim of the tool is not to replace the supervisor. It is designed to help students receive earlier, clearer, and more actionable feedback between meetings, while helping teachers focus more of their time on high-value guidance and professional judgement.
